Since receiving a camera as a graduation gift in 1965, much of Don’s world perspective has been through a viewfinder. His preferred subjects are landscapes, nature and wildlife, with the occasional cityscape or landmark thrown in for variety and interest. With composition and appearance, he tries to offer “something different”. Now retired, a lifelong career in information technology allowed him to travel internationally and live in several Canadian cities. In 2013 Don moved to Guelph and is President of the Guelph Photographers Guild, and along with his wife Linda, members of the Guelph Creative Arts Association, and the Guelph Arts Council. Don feels that ”Not every photo has to be stuck in a matted frame behind glass – photography can have texture and feeling like a fine oil painting or sculpture if we let it. His reward – knowing someone liked his work enough to adopt it for their home or office.
