Creating has always been a part of my life and has brought me great pleasure.
Growing up in rural Ontario allowed me to explore nature’s colour and form in wide open fields, streams and forests. Through workshops with individual artists, courses at Dundas Valley School of Art and Haliburton School of Art I have experimented with various mediums, however fibre is my favourite.
Discovering the technique of felting opened a whole new world for me. Seeing and touching the fibre helps me to develop my designs. Using a variety of fibre including wool, silk, bamboo, cotton and linen I create one of a kind artwork. I use both the wet and needle felting technique and recycle wool blankets and sweaters as my canvas.
Many of my works are inspired by photos I have taken, but I also enjoy working on abstract pieces. Using natural fibres to create art inspired by nature is an ongoing adventure.
Fibre art is an inspiring journey into the world of colour and design.
